Pompano Beach

Way back in the 1890’s when Frank Sheen set his foot on Pompano Beach, it was a small nameless settlement in the South of Florida. The name of the fish ‘Pompano’ he had for dinner there was something he wanted to remember and so he marked it on his survey map. The name caught on and later the word beach was added to it for obvious reasons and that is how Pompano Beach got its name. Further development of the area occurred with the arrival of railways and eventually the city made a remarkable place for itself in Broward County. The land now known for its beaches, coral reefs and marinas, made a giant leap from a small farming community to what it is today.

Today, the beach town with a mix of city air and old world charm attracts people from all over the world. The diverse culture, rich heritage, art and scope for adventure, make this city a vibrant part of Florida.
